It's been a while since I posted one of Fida's lovely poems, but she's still been writing :) I hope you guys have visited her blog. One of her latest poems, called "Stand Up", celebrates the blessing of "Sisterhood"and is inspired by one of our posts :) Enjoy..and be inspired to take that step <3

Stand Up

Stand up
and be the person you want to see,
stand up
and be the person you want to be,
no more waiting
just stand up and walk.

You'll meet sisters along the way
ready to help
give you a hand
pull you forward, push you on

Yet take your time,
your own pace
to each decision

Just know
Allah is here and ready.

I want to...

Once again, the ever talented Fida  (ma'shaAllah), shares with us her touching poem, "I want to". In just a few lines she sums up the feelings I'm sure most of us have...

I want to feel the excitement again
the calm, the enlightening
of praying;

I want to feel the purity again
splashing water, having a smile
if reading the quran;

I want to feel the freshness again
of being a Muslim.

Cover Girl

It's Friday again! This time,shares with us her beautiful poem, "Cover Girl". Enjoy.

Cover Girl

That girl...
inspired by so many women,
women that cover.

Seeing them, wanting to be...
like them, with them.

That girl
taking the step
to become that covered girl.

Tough times came
being stared at and questions asked,
even being poked at.

But being in a sisterhood
they helped pull through
knowing God is who to please.

Through time
she became stronger,
more confident;

she became free.

Like a Flower
I’d like to be an orchid…
mysterious and beautiful, like a Muslim woman.

I’d like to be a lavender…
standing tall and beautiful, like a Muslim woman
proud to cover up yet popping with color.

I’d like to be a flower
delicate yet radiant.
